By road (car or taxi)
This is the simplest and fastest option. The distance is approximately 250 to 260 km and the journey usually takes 2½ to 3 hours, depending on traffic and the route taken.
The most common route is via the E11, then the E611, before joining the E84 towards the east coast.

By taxi or private transfer, the journey is direct and comfortable, but the cost can be high, especially for a long inter-emirate journey.
By bus
It is possible to travel by bus, but the journey takes longer.
Buses depart from Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station, usually with a connection in Sharjah (Al Jubail) before continuing on to Fujairah. The total journey time is approximately 5 to 6 hours, depending on the waiting time between buses.
This is the most economical option, but also the slowest.
By train
Since 30 June 2026, Etihad Rail passenger trains have linked Abu Dhabi to Fujairah in 1 hour 45 minutes. They leave from Mohamed bin Zayed City station, with six departures a day in each direction at launch, and arrive at Fujairah station in the Al Hilal district. Launch fares start at AED 55 (15 USD) in Comfort class and AED 120 (33 USD) in Premium. Tickets are sold on the Etihad Rail app and website, up to four weeks in advance.
Without a car, it is now the fastest way to make the trip. If you are flying in, see also our guide to Fujairah airport.
